Is it true that Moses parted the Red Sea? The Holy Bible was the earliest word for "biblia" in Greek , meaning "a collection of books". The Bible is not one book, but a collection of many volumes, a compilation of works by different authors at different times. It is the holy book of Jews and Christians. For a long time, western political system, literary creation and even customs have been all influenced by it, and it is regarded as the pillar of western spiritual civilization.
The Bible is a collection of Western myths, and many people around the world today are interested in discovering the truth of the events in the Bible. One of them, the Exodus, tells of Moses parting the Red Sea in his flight. It is recorded in the Fourteenth chapter of Exodus that Moses, the servant of God, led the Israel out of Egypt, and the Pharaoh of Egypt broke his word and released the Israel who were slaves. He sent his chariot forces to pursue the Israel. God told Moses to point his walking stick at the Red Sea. “And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.” The Red Sea parted, and the Israel passed through the Red Sea, and the Egyptians chased them down, and they were all in a mess. They couldn"t get to the Israel, and the Israel passed through!God ordered Moses to point his cane again at the Red Sea, and the red Sea was closed! Not a single Egyptian chariot, soldier, or horse escaped, but all of them perished in the Red Sea.
So is it true that Moses parted the Red Sea?
This miracle has long been debated. It was said that Moses was able to lead the Jews out of Egypt because of the uplift of the land caused by a volcanic eruption, which separated the waters of the sea. Of course, that"s just a guess. To dig into the reasons behind it and verify its authenticity would require a lot of scientific research. According to the discovery website on February 3, 2004, two Russian oceanographers said that the record full of mythological features can be fully explained by the scientific perspective of oceanography. That study, published in the Journal Proceedings of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was the first scientific verification of the Red Sea’s separation records using oceanographic, climatic conditions and mathematical models. Naum Volzinger and Alexei Androsov, experts at the Marine Resources Institute in Petersburg, Russia, said the best scientific explanation of the history of the Red Sea"s separation is that the Jews escaped the Egyptians through a submerged corridor running from Egypt to the north of the Red Sea. Volzinger and Androsov said that the reef corridor in the Red Sea was much closer to the surface of the sea when the Bible was written (around 1500 BC) than it is today in the Marine environment. Given the prevailing climatic conditions and tidal movements, the reef corridor would have been exposed to the sea for several hours under certain conditions. "If the sea breeze blows at 30 metres per second all night, the reef corridor is exposed to the sea," Volzinger told the Moscow Times. This gave
the estimated 600,000 Jews four hours to cross the 7km long reef corridor. Within half an hour of the Jews crossing completely, the reef corridor will be submerged again." Some Bible experts disagreed with the latest interpretation. As Robert Coote, an American expert on the Old Testament, pointed out, the original Exodus was written in Hebrew, and its description of the "Red Sea" is inconclusive. Coote believed that the initial location of this "Red Sea" may be along the coast of the Mediterranean, perhaps on a lagoon in the Gulf of Suez, or even, more likely, near the Gulf of Aqaba. Other Biblical experts thought that the Russian scientists" reasoning was so accurate that they even calculated the miles and wind speeds of the reef corridor in itself a ridiculous thing. However, there had a new scientific research came out to prove that is true. On October 8, 2016, according to the Hong Kong-based Eastnet, Swedish scientists discovered the remains of the Egyptian army at the bottom of the Red Sea: "Recently, a Swedish scientist Dr Lennart Moller led a team of researchers on the same road as Moses. When we arrived at the Red Sea, we surveyed the bottom of the Red Sea and found many relics belonging to the Egyptian army." And in 1978, the archaeologist Dr Ron Wyatt said he had photographs showing the fossilized bones of a golden carriage, a man and a horse on the floor of the Red Sea. What"s more, in 2010 Carl Drews, a scientist at America"s Centre for Atmospheric Research, used computer simulations. The simulations showed that a night of strong easterly winds could easily open up a land passage at a particular location, allowing a person to walk safely through the mud. And when the winds stop, the water will return to its original position. This is quite consistent with the biblical account of exodus. This effect is called a "wind drop," and it"s when wind speeds over 60mph push the water to the other side, pulling it apart. He thinks the winds that caused this may have stopped just as the Egyptian army was about to pass through.
Thanks to the efforts of scientists, it is possible for the Red Sea in the Book of Exodus to have been split apart, not by the power of God and Moses, but by the magic and power of nature.
In the Bible, everything in nature seems to be created by the hand of God. This is certainly not credible in the materialist world view, but it does not mean that the events recorded in it are all false. Whether it is true or not should be proved by science and practice.
